Chirp-1 / Quantel was created in two separate effects passes: At the RPI Video Synthesizer Lab an old porno tape (on stock that was donated to us) was processed using an analog Serge modular music synthesizer to sequence the sounds and control the colorization of an analog Hern video synthesizer. The sounds are also inserted into the video, which are the stripes you see, changing with frequency. The tape from the first pass was taken to EUE Video and used to seed an analog feedback loop around a Quantel 5000 digital effects device.

The spaceman approaches neighbour Ho Kei-ming's daughter Yuk-wah in order to probe into the father's dealings with the crime ring. Ma, meanwhile, charms her way into Detective Wong's investigation squad. Fai and the detective make a narrow escape from death but are dealt another setback, with Fai's mother and Yuk-wah abducted. The crime syndicate demands that Cheng Chung-bo lead the way to the treasure trove, holding his family hostage. Booby-trapped, Cheng Fai disengages the device and flees to join Flying Heroine Ma Chau-wan and Detective Wong. Meanwhile, the ingenious scientist Dr Ng is enlisted by the ringleader Ho Kei-ming to match wits and brawn with Fai and Ma. Ma slyly earns the trust of a bewitched Ng, claiming to be Fai's biggest foe. Ng ushers Ma into the headquarters where he meets his doom. With his patience running out, Ho grasps an apprehended Chung-bo on a treasure hunt while the pursuers are diverted from their course. Ma recognises her long-lost father from among the gangsters and brings him to his senses with words of absolution. The father pledges his alliance to the duo in crushing the gang and saving Chung-bo and wife.

Unforeseen to each of the company's creators, is how each of the advanced robots soon falls in love with the other.

Ancestors is a film about spiritual forefathers and mothers in a purely fanciful sense. These are classical figures, anatomical figures, fairy tale figures and romantic figures all thrown in together - all my creative root-sources, in a kind of playful tribute. Like part 2 of Duo Concertantes, it's a moving single picture, now doubled.

Set in Bangkok, the film shows the process of urbanization of the city while humans lose control over the consequences of their actions and their greed. The story begins and we move underground to meet the two protagonists: a pangolin couple. The two lovers are living a tranquil life in their hidden city beneath, when their quiet is upset by sudden earth shakes provoked by the drilling of a construction site above. Separated by the cracks in the soil, they begin an adventurous journey to find each other, taking the viewer deeper into the causes of the loss of connection between humans and the earth beneath and ultimately, of the pandemic.
